“Thank you for your part in making Jacki and Rob’s wedding a memorable experience. The wedding cake was lovely, and the groom’s cake - - well, most people were surprised it was a cake! It was quite a topic of conversation.” -- Mary L.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you provide cake stands?
A: No, but you can find one at most local party rental stores for about $25 a day. Many facilities provide other alternatives such as crates covered with linen, limestone slabs, glass bricks, etc. It is worth asking the question, particularly if you are on a budget.

Q: Do you schedule tastings?
A: As part of an initial meeting, we will provide you a 5” round sample cake at no charge. We try to provide you with two or more flavors for you to enjoy. There will be plenty to take home and share with a few of your planning buddies.

Q: Do you cut the cake at the reception?
A: No, we do not stick around for the festivities. You should assign that task to a family member or dear friend. Some facilities will cut the cake for you. Be sure to ask what their fee is for this service. Some charge by the slice and others include it for free. Ask your caterer, too. It isn’t the caterer’s job to cut the cake so be sure to have this portion of your reception well thought out.

Q: What are your prices per serving? What flavors of cake do you make?
A: Please refer to the “Flavors and Servings” section of the website.

Q: How big are your servings?
A: It depends upon who is cutting the cake. The “Flavors and Servings” section will tell you how many guests can be served from each tier. Our tiers are rather tall ~ 4” to 4 _” in height ~ so you get a lot of cake from the bottom up. The width is totally up to the knife wielder.

Q: Do you deliver and set up a cake?
A: Yes, we deliver and set up the cake at your reception. We prefer to deliver approximately one hour before your reception begins to allow for the facility and the caterers to get the tables and linens in place. If your ceremony and reception are at the same location, we deliver approximately one hour before your ceremony begins. We don’t want to interfere with your guests so we skeedaddle before they arrive.

Q: What do you charge for delivery?
A: We deliver to most locations in Austin for $50 or less.

Q: Do you work with flowers for the cake?
A: We can place flowers on your cake, but any manicured, “formal arrangement” design work should be done by your florist. You or the florist are responsible for providing the flowers for your cake to ensure that they match your bouquets and centerpieces.

Q: How many servings should we provide? What if we have a bride’s cake and a groom’s cake?
A: You should have at least as many servings as you do expected guests. You do not want to run out. If you have two cakes, especially with different flavors, some guests will want a serving of each so be prepared to provide extra servings in that case. We suggest you have about 20% - 25% more servings than guests just to be safe. Allocate about a third of your total servings to the groom’s cake because it’s ALL ABOUT THE BRIDE! You don’t want the groom’s cake to be bigger than yours, now do you?

Q: Do you freeze cakes and use them later?
A: Never. We make everything fresh. Not that freezing is necessarily bad. Many hoity toity cook books suggest that you freeze the cakes first to make them easier to frost, but I am more comfortable with baking everything fresh. Besides, I don’t have the freezer space. Your taster may have been frozen because I don’t always have the time to bake just a taster cake, but your bride’s cake is guaranteed to be fresh.

Q: What do you think of fondant?
A: We think it is fine for ornamental touches, but frankly it tastes like toothpaste. We spend a lot of time smoothing buttercream icing to give it the appearance of fondant. If you are really wanting a cake completely covered in fondant, I recommend you go to a baker who is proficient with this technique. Be prepared to spend some bucks and know that it won’t taste as yummy as ours.

Q: Can I have more than one flavor in my cake?
A: Yes, but we suggest no more than two flavors be offered in any one cake unless you are prepared to order much more cake than you will have guests. Invariably some guests will want one serving of each flavor and you do risk running out before everyone gets served. Thus the reason for ordering many more servings that you have guests.

Q: What are your payment terms?
A: We do not take deposits. We just don’t want to have to keep up with them. Payment in full is due two weeks before your wedding. We accept checks and cash, but not credit cards.
